Getting Started

5
ShadowProof is available on the App Store for iPhone. Search for "ShadowProof" or visit our download page at shadowproof.app/download. Android, Windows, macOS, and Chrome extension versions are coming soon.
You can create an account using your email address and a password, or sign in with Google or Apple. Open the app or visit shadowproof.app and tap Sign Up. You will receive a welcome email after registration.
After signing in and subscribing to a plan, tap the power button on the main screen. iOS will ask you to allow VPN configurations the first time. Tap Allow, and ShadowProof will establish a secure connection. You will see "Protected" with your new IP address once connected.
ShadowProof routes all of your device's internet traffic through a private US mobile IP address using an encrypted VPN tunnel. This means your real IP address is hidden, your connection is encrypted, and websites see a clean mobile IP from a real US carrier.
No. ShadowProof is designed to be completely plug-and-play. There are no proxy settings to configure, no servers to choose, and no protocols to select. You tap one button and you are connected.

Connection

6
Open the app and tap the power button on the main screen. The button will glow green and display "Protected" when the connection is active. Your new IP address will appear below the status.
Auto-reconnect is always enabled. If your connection drops due to network changes (switching from Wi-Fi to cellular, for example), ShadowProof will automatically attempt to reconnect up to 5 times with a 2-second delay between attempts.
Keep-alive sends a small ping every 30 seconds to maintain your VPN tunnel. This prevents the connection from going idle and being dropped by the network. It is always enabled and requires no configuration.
ShadowProof currently provides US mobile IP addresses. You are automatically assigned a clean IP from a major US carrier. Server location selection is not available at this time as all IPs are optimized for US-based connections.
Yes. ShadowProof works on any internet connection, including Wi-Fi, LTE, and 5G. The VPN tunnel encrypts all traffic regardless of your underlying network.
ShadowProof uses a SOCKS5 tunnel through Apple's NEPacketTunnelProvider framework. All traffic is routed through the tunnel, and DNS queries are resolved securely through Quad9 (9.9.9.9) with built-in threat blocking.

Account

6
If you subscribed through the App Store, go to iPhone Settings, tap your Apple ID, then Subscriptions, and select ShadowProof. If you subscribed through the web, log in to your dashboard at shadowproof.app/dashboard and navigate to your subscription settings.
Open the app and go to Settings. You can update your password from your account settings. If you signed in with Google or Apple, you do not have a separate ShadowProof password.
Open the app, go to Settings, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete Account. This will permanently remove your account, cancel any active subscription, and delete all associated data within 30 days. This action cannot be undone.
You can sign in with an email address and password, Google, or Apple. If you created your account with one method, you can only sign in with that same method. For example, if you signed up with Google, use Google to sign in.
On the sign-in screen, tap "Forgot password" and enter your email address. You will receive a password reset link. If you signed in with Google or Apple, use those providers to sign in instead.
Each subscription is for individual use on one device at a time. Your account credentials work on any supported device, but the VPN connection is active on one device per session.

Privacy and Security

6
We collect only what is necessary to operate the service: your email address, subscription status, and connection timestamps (when you connect and disconnect). We do not log browsing history, DNS queries, traffic content, or your originating IP address after a session ends.
No. We do not have the ability to see, log, or store your browsing activity. Traffic passes through our VPN tunnel but we do not inspect, record, or analyze it. Even in response to legal requests, we cannot provide browsing data because it does not exist in our systems.
Quad9 (9.9.9.9) is a privacy-focused DNS resolver that blocks connections to known malicious domains. When connected to ShadowProof, all your DNS queries go through Quad9, which blocks approximately 98% of known malware, phishing, and harmful domains automatically.
The IP Quality Checker is a built-in feature that lets you verify your VPN connection using trusted third-party services like IPQualityScore, Scamalytics, BrowserLeaks, and others. Tap the "IP Check" button on the main screen to see a list of services you can use to confirm your IP is clean.
Yes. All DNS queries are routed through the VPN tunnel and resolved via Quad9. IPv6 is also routed into the tunnel to prevent any leak paths. You can verify this using the IP Quality Checker or by visiting a DNS leak test site while connected.
No. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with third parties for advertising, marketing, or profiling. Our revenue comes exclusively from subscriptions.

Billing

6
ShadowProof offers daily, weekly, and monthly subscription plans. All plans include the same features: US mobile IP, full device encryption, auto-reconnect, DNS protection, and the IP quality checker. Plans differ only in billing frequency.
For App Store subscriptions, go to iPhone Settings, tap your Apple ID, then Subscriptions, select ShadowProof, and tap Cancel. For web subscriptions, log in to your dashboard and use the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain access until then.
Yes. You can cancel anytime from your dashboard billing portal, and you won't be charged again. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period. For App Store purchases, manage your subscription in iPhone Settings, tap your Apple ID, then Subscriptions.
Both provide the same VPN service. App Store subscriptions are billed by Apple and managed through your iPhone Settings. Web subscriptions are processed by Stripe and managed through your dashboard at shadowproof.app. Pricing may differ due to Apple's commission.
Payment declines are typically caused by insufficient funds, expired cards, or bank security blocks. Update your payment method in your iPhone Settings (App Store) or dashboard (web). If the issue persists, contact your bank or reach out to [email protected].
Yes. All subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You will receive a confirmation email each time your subscription renews.

Troubleshooting

8
This usually means the app could not reach our servers to retrieve your proxy configuration. Check that you have an active internet connection and try tapping Retry. If you just subscribed, it may take a moment for your proxy to be provisioned. If the error persists, force-close the app and reopen it.
Connection drops are usually caused by unstable network conditions (weak Wi-Fi or cellular signal). ShadowProof will automatically attempt to reconnect up to 5 times. If drops are frequent, try switching between Wi-Fi and cellular to see if one is more stable. Also ensure you are running the latest version of the app.
Some speed reduction is normal with any VPN due to encryption overhead and routing. If speeds are significantly slow, try disconnecting and reconnecting to get a fresh IP. Also check your base internet speed without the VPN to rule out local network issues.
First, make sure you have an active subscription. Then check that VPN permissions are enabled: go to iPhone Settings, General, VPN and Device Management, and ensure ShadowProof's VPN configuration is present. If not, delete the app and reinstall it, then sign in and try connecting again.
If you purchased through the App Store, open the app, go to Settings, and tap Restore Purchases. For web subscriptions, make sure you are signed in with the same account you used to purchase. If the issue persists, contact [email protected] with your receipt.
When connected, the app shows "Protected" with your new IP address. Tap the IP Check button to verify your connection using third-party services. Your real IP should be hidden and the displayed IP should be a US mobile IP with a high trust score.
VPN apps naturally use more battery because they maintain an active network tunnel. ShadowProof is optimized with efficient keep-alive intervals (30 seconds) and a lightweight tunnel implementation. If battery drain is excessive, make sure you are running the latest app version.
